Western Nebraska Economic Development (WNED)

Mission Statement - The mission of WNED is the coordination of economic development efforts through regional collaboration benefiting all communities regardless of size. 

Vision Statement - The Vision of WNED is to be the standard of leadership in regional growth and economic vitality by ening the catalyst to promote an inclusive organization for all governmental entities. 

 

WNED is a collaboration of western Nebraska communities working together and combining resources to plan for the future of the region. WNED is a collaboration of communities in the counties of Scotts Bluff, Kimball, and Morrill to coordinate regional efforts in an effort for improvements in economic development and community development. The combined efforts are focused on housing, electric utilities, legislative support and change, Certified Leadership Communities, LB 840, city beautification, and strategic planning; with the hopes to expand to other communities. 

As of 2018, the communities that are involved in WNED are Bayard, Bridgeport, Gering, Kimball, Mitchell, Morrill, Scottsbluff, and Terrytown.  Resource members include: Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD), Nebraska Department of Economic Developement (NDED), Panhandle Area Development District (PADD), Scottsbluff-Gering United Chamber of Commerce, Scotts Bluff County Housing Authority, Twin Cities Development (TCD), University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension, US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
