City Council

The City of Bayard is governed by the Mayor and City Council form of government.  The mayor, is elected to a four-year term, and is a non-voting member of the Bayard City Council.  The six-member Council also is elected to a four-year term and decides all policies for the City of Bayard.
 
The Mayor and Council meet monthly (the second Tuesday of the month) at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 445 Main Street.  The official proceedings of all regular, special, and emergency meetings of the Mayor and City Council are published in the Bayard Transcript, and posted online here.

Administration

The City of Bayard Administration Department includes the Offices of City Clerk/Treasurer and City Deputy Clerk/Deputy Treasurer. The City Clerk/Treasurer and City Deputy Clerk/Deputy Treasurer are Mayor appointed positions, and report to the Mayor and City Council.

The Administration Department is responsible for all general operations of the City, including the annual budget, treasurer functions, personnel management, meeting preparation, and statute compliance.
